Procedures
Format: The Evian Group convenes round-table meetings of government, industry and opinion leaders. Participants at the OWI Bled meeting are limited to about 60, roughly evenly divided between Europeans and non-Europeans and between various professions. The meeting will combine plenary sessions, panel presentations (where speakers are requested to limit their introductory remarks to about 10 minutes each in order to facilitate an inter-active dialogue) and group work.
Output: The objective of the round-table meetings is to dialogue, to build confidence, to learn and to clarify issues, to identify priorities, but also very much to influence the public policy process. A communiqué will be issued on the main thrust and outcome of the meeting as a whole, the reports from the groups will be posted on the Evian Group website, key extracts will be published in the journal European Business Forum and other publications may ensue either collectively or individually by participants.
Confidentiality: During all sessions Chatham House rules will apply. This means: "When a meeting or gathering, or part thereof, is held under the Chatham House Rule, participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed; nor may it be mentioned that the information was received at such a meeting or gathering."
Timing: Sessions are very intensive and the agenda is ambitious: all sessions will begin punctually and aim to end on time.
Media: A press release will be issued on the substance of discussions (without attributions).
